Food Ingredients Regional Meet in Phuket, Thailand
From 2 – 4 October 2017, 32 attendees representing 9 countries gathered together for the annual Behn Meyer Food Ingredients Regional Meeting in Phuket, Thailand.
The team gathered at Novotel Hotel on Kalama Beach, where the meeting was kicked off with the re-introduction of the group’s Vision 2020. Ms. Khau Thi Thien Kim, the director of the food group, took time to conduct a presentation on new developments in global F&B trends and also predictions for the food market from 2017 – 2022.
Her presentation ended with a summary of the group’s performance thus far, which showed a steady growth in sales over 2017 as well as positive prospects for 2018.
Following this, representatives from each country took turns to shed light on their respective countries’ economic climate, give updates in local food regulation, and share success stories as well as their assessments for 2017.
Mr. Chua Wei Keong, the Lab Manager of Behn Meyer Research & Development, joined in the session to present the new facilities in the labs available to the food group that will potentially improve their processes.
The next day, workshops were conducted where new products were introduced and new suppliers and knowledge were exchanged to further stimulate growth for the entire region.
At the end of the meet, the team took a break to visit Phuket’s scenic spots, such as Phromthep Cape and Kata Mountain as well as the mountaintop 45m-tall Big Buddha statue.
After a farewell dinner at a local seafood restaurant, the team bade each other goodbye and went their separate ways. Exciting times lie ahead!
