From 21 – 23 February, the team at Behn Meyer Chemicals Philippines attended the International Farmers Summit (IFS) 2018, organised by the Philippine Veterinary Drug Foundation at the SMX Convention Center, located close by the airport and overlooking the famed Manila Bay at SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines.
Formerly known as the International Animal Health and Genetics Convention (INAHGEN), the International Farmers Summit is the agriculture sector’s largest international forum aimed primarily at showcasing innovation and networking among Filipino livestock farmers.
According to the IFS Secretariat, the event was attended by around 22,600 visitors and comprised the following activities: trade show and exhibits featuring over 240 participating companies, plenary sessions for swine and poultry stakeholders headlined by the industry’s bests, and also a very special Farmers’ Night on the first day.
Behn Meyer participated in the summit with a booth showcasing the latest in technology and advancements from three of our participating suppliers: Azomite Minerals, Eastman Chemicals and United Animal Health.
On the first day of the event, a dinner was held at XO Restaurant in Conrad Hotel, hosted by Mr. Jose Manuel Izquierdo, Aniceto Chito Endaya and Dr. Dirk Lorenz-Meyer, the regional director of the Animal Nutrition division.
The dinner, attended by the animal nutrition team as well as our colleagues from other departments, served as a gesture of appreciation to our suppliers who were very supportive in attending the exhibition with us.
A second appreciation dinner was held for owners, veterinarians and animal nutritionists on the second day of the event at a restobar overlooking the Manila Bay with a spectacular view of the sunset. It was a memorable occasion to have spent quality time with our clients and partners in the industry: Bay Brothers, Seaside Boulevard and Mall of Asia. The event was made possible thanks to the cooperation of Interfarma Nutraceuticals, Inc. and Elanco Philippines.
The occasion was also graced by the attendance of various VIPs including Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol as well as Senators Grace Poe and Cynthia Villar, who were present during the ceremonies opening.
Even as the agriculture sector continues to face its own set of challenges, the International Farmers Summit 2018 not only showcased innovations that helped address these challenges, but also presented excellent opportunities for building businesses and networks both locally and internationally.
