Composites in Mobility

Behn Meyer at JEC Forum 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand

From 3 – 5 July 2019, Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) and Thai Composites Association jointly organised the 4th annual JEC Forum at Chatrium Hotel Riverside in Bangkok with the title, “Composites in Mobility”. The Adhesives and Construction teams from Behn Meyer Thailand had the opportunity to take part in the 3-day forum together with our partner Scott Bader.

The main purpose of our participation at the event was to promote Scott Bader’s range of innovative solutions and services tailored for the automotive industry, particularly Scott Bader’s adhesives, including Crestafix®, which is a range of polyester, vinyl ester and hybrid bonding pastes, as well as Crestabond® and Crestomer®, which are primerless MMA and urethane acrylate structural adhesives respectively.

During our time there, we also had the chance to engage in knowledge sharing sessions, receive updates on the latest trends and technologies within the industry, and even networked with other major players from the industry, including Asia Kangnam, DIAB, the Department of Science Service, Krauss Maffei and the Japanese-based company Sojitz.

The namesake forum dedicated a majority of its time to discussions on the future of mobility, more specifically, the role that composites can play in the vehicles of tomorrow. The JEC Group opened the forum with an overview of the global composites market, which included predictions for the next 5 years based on current trends, and were followed by a range of interesting topics by prominent thought leaders within the industry. Among the topics that were covered, some standouts include an overview of thermoplastic composites in the automotive industry by PTT Global Chemical, as well as a discussion on hydrogen storage for fuel cell electric vehicles by Plastic Omnium.

The products that were showcased at our booth were perfectly aligned with the theme and direction of the forum, as they directly addressed many of the problems faced by the forum participants. We received good feedback from the automotive producers who visited our booth, particularly for our resins, gelcoats and MMA adhesives.

We had an excellent time at JEC Forum Bangkok 2019 and we are looking forward to joining in the event again in 2020.
