The people of Myanmar are experiencing immense difficulties and have been exposed to many challenges since the February 1st military coup d’état. In response to this, the BM Myanmar team has donated rice bags and edible vegetable oils on Behn Meyer's 181st Anniversary to the Thabarwa Nature Centre, located in Thalyin township of Yangon, Myanmar's largest city and former capital. In conjunction with Behn Meyer's Anniversary, the team members who went to the centre all donned the nation's traditional attire.
Thabarwa is a non-profit humanitarian organisation built to give aid and protection to those who need it. It was established in 2008 by local monks for the public benefit, and it is taking care of the most crucial needs of the local community. From merely a centre, Thabarwa has now grown into a small village offering refuge 24 hours a day, seven days a week without restrictions. The centre provides sanctuary for more than 3400 people, including the aged, sick, disabled, homeless and helpless. It is a safe place where healing begins.
