Behn Meyer Indonesia Participated in the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease in Livestock

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a cause of viral disease in cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Recently, Indonesia is again faced with this outbreak after being clear of FMD in 1986, as stated by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The first case of FMD in cattle was discovered in Gresik, East Java, on April 28th.

On Monday, May 23th, Indonesia’s government reported that the FMD has infected more than 20,000 livestock animals in 16 provinces. To prevent a wider impact on animal health and business economy, Indonesia’s Agriculture Ministry has released a guide on cattle mobilisation to regional administrations.

Behn Meyer as a member of ASOHI (Indonesia Animal Drugs Company association) participates in this emergency by donating several veterinary drugs known to prevent the spread of the virus. Behn Meyer donates products from the Intrahydrocare line which include cleaning and disinfection items, and Intra Repiderma products, typically used as a multipurpose aerosol spray. The products are produced by Intracare BV, Behn Meyer’s counterparts in the Netherlands.

The donation was symbolically handed over by Mr Ili Kusmidi as Executive Director Sales on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. At this event, Mr Teddy Candinegara as Executive Director Sales, Animal Nutrition division representative, and HRGA representative also joined to donate. The donation was received by drh. Ira Fahri, Chairman of ASOHI and drh. Forlin Tinora, Secretary General of ASOHI.

Behn Meyer will continue to provide the support needed to prevent the outbreaks of FMD in Indonesia.
