HAZARDOUS INFORMATION

Type of Hazard

Descriptions

Fire & Explosion

In event of a fire, the chemical may form an explosive dust-air mixture. The burning also produces irritant perfumes, and exposure to  decomposition may be hazardous to death.

Health

The substance may cause skin irritation and or an allergic skin reaction. Avoid contact with the eyes as it may cause serious irritation. The substance may also induce allergic reactions, asthma symptoms, breathing difficulties or even death if inhaled over a prolonged period of time.

Environment

The chemical produce harm to the environment. Do not allow contact with soil, surface and ground water. It is also important to avoid to dispose the chemical into surface water or sanitary sewer system without proper treatment system.

Release to the air

The area within a 10km radius of either site must be warned in the event of a major accident hazard, although the risks presented to the surrounding areas are considerably low as the chemicals present in the TP6 facility are only for storage purposes, and the chemicals present in the TP2 facility undergo certain mixing processes in ambient temperature and pressure that are not inherently complex or dangerous.

OSHA INFORMATION

  • Behn Meyer has been classified as a Major Hazard Installation (MHI) under Regulation 12(a) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards) 1996 as there are chemicals that exceed threshold quantity according to Schedule 1, therefore requiring the owner to prepare a report to its industrial activity as per Regulation 14 of the CIMAH Regulations.
