6 May 2010 - The year 2010 began with a boot-camp for the Fertilizers (FE) and Crop Protection (CP) Divisions of Behn Meyer. All the Malaysian managers and sales personnel gathered for a 2-day meeting in Bangkok. The venue was a quiet spot in the city – Courtyard by Marriott – where the group spent a fruitful day analyzing the group’s performance for 2009, and brainstorming on how to “seize the moment” with the opportunities that the new year presents.

Executive Director of Marketing, Mr. Khoo Su Chin, and Executive Director of Sales, Mr. Chong Yiew On lead the discussions during the meeting. Together with the Malaysian group were two managers from Vietnam - Mr. Dam and Mr. Phu, Indonesia – Pak Wirastanto, and Thailand – Khun Kumron. They participated by presenting the FE & CP business plans for the respective countries. Shareholder Mr. PJ Schoenberg, as well as Supervisory Board member Mr. SK Hoh were also present to listen to the deliberations of everyone, and to participate in the other activities.
After the day-long meeting, the group spent the next day with visits to two very successful farmer cooperatives at nearby provinces of Lumlukka and Bangnumpeaw, as well as to the padi farm of a more progressive farmer. Some took the chance to visit the golf courses to evaluate the potential for our products.
The opportunity to see first-hand how business is conducted in another country was good as it presents fresh insights and new ideas for improving the business. Country head of Behn Meyer Thailand, Khun Prasonk and some of his colleagues were also present during one of the evenings to welcome us to the beautiful culture of Thailand.
